ADDED

Developer Vertigo Games has released a new version of the upcoming VR action game Metro Awakening VR. The videos show extensive scenes from the game on Meta Quest 3 and Playstation VR 2.

There are some very clear differences between the two VR platforms. The Playstation VR 2 version has bright areas and intense fog and smoke effects. The lighting effects from the muzzle when you fire a weapon also seem to be stronger on Sony’s VR headset.

Overall, the PSVR 2 version has a clear edge, but the standalone version looks surprisingly good, with beautiful human figures and atmospheric transitions between light and shadow.

YouTuber StockiVR has now uploaded both trailers for the game side by side. In the following video, you can see a direct comparison of both versions. You can find individual trailers at the end of the article in the resource list.

EXPECTATION

Metro Awakening VR is coming on November 7th

Metro Awakening VR is a VR survival story that generated a lot of excitement at this year’s Gamescom. A prequel to the popular Metro 2033 story series by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky, the VR game tells an origin story that takes place five years before the events of the first novel.

You take on the role of Serdar, a doctor searching for his sick wife in need of medicine in the subways of post-apocalyptic Moscow. Along the way, you must fight criminals, mutants and the ever-present darkness.

As our first hands on Playstation VR 2 showed, Metro Awakening VR impresses with a dense horror atmosphere, intense gunplay and challenging survival mechanics such as resource scarcity. To increase the immersion, Vertigo Games relies on realistic elements of the game such as physical properties in the form of a 3D bag and handling of real weapons.

Metro Awakening VR will be released on November 7 for Playstation VR 2, Meta Quest 2 and 3 and for PC VR via Steam and Viveport.
